Pre-Three’s Classes: 2¼ Hours/2 day a week (9am – 11:15am)

Derry Preschool’s Pre-Three’s Program is geared towards a child’s first experience in a educational setting.  Although not a rigidly-structured class, the “Pre-Three’s Programs” introduces beginning education concepts in a comfortable, supportive, nurturing environment.

These early concepts included, but are not limited to:

☆ Following simple directions
☆ Introducing group activities
☆ Developing large and fine motor skills
☆ Building self-confidence
☆ Creating a love for learning

These skills are integrated during the school year through activities such as:

☆ Basic music instruction
☆ Simple arts & craft activities
☆ Story telling
☆ Circle & snack times
☆ Indoor & outdoor physical activities
☆ Special programs throughout the year

A flexible program, Derry Preschool’s Pre-Three’s progress at a pace which is beneficial to all the children within the class. Encouraging positive socialization skills and strengthening communicative abilities are primary goals for the Pre-Three’s Program.

Three Year Old Classes: 2 days a week / 2 1/2 hours (9am – 11:30am)

At Derry Preschool our most important goal for your child is to build self-esteem and individuality.  Along with this, our 3-year-old program emphasizes positive socialization skills. Learning to separate from home, cooperation and following directions are all very important ways we help each child successfully master their new school environment.

Much of what a young child learns about the world comes from the hands-on experiences they get while playing.  Our school time is built around creative play time and manipulative experiences designed to enhance each child’s curiosity and make this first school experience a very positive one.

[dropcap]4[/dropcap] Four Year Old Classes: 3 days a week / 2 1/2 hours (9am – 11:30am)

At Derry Preschool our most important goal for your child is to build self-esteem and individuality.  Our four year old program is designed to incorporate appropriate socialization skills along with self-help skills and cognitive skills.

Children mature at different rates and a child may be more advanced in developing certain skills and slower in developing others.  Realizing this, our thematic curriculum is designed to introduce skills in a manner that will allow children to achieve success (at any level). Our teachers strive to encourage growth in your child’s social and intellectual maturity, listening skills, attention span and participation in group activities.

We understand that readiness involves not only academic ability, but that social skills and emotional maturity are also essential for your child’s successful beginning of Kindergarten.

**Coming for the 2019-2020 school year: Our 4-year old classes will be offered an opportunity to participate in one built-in extended day that will be a progression of the 4-year old curriculum. The program will begin in January 2020 and registration for this 4-year old extended day will be offered in November.

Five Year Old Classes: 4 days a week / 2 1/2 hours (9am – 11:30am)

At Derry Preschool our most important goal for your child is to build self-esteem and individuality.  Along with this, our 5 Year Old program incorporates cognitive skills as well.

In this very important year before kindergarten the program strives to teach pre-reading and pre-math skills (i.e. left to right sequencing and classification), small motor skills (cutting and printing), listening skills and attention span.

We understand that readiness involves not only academic ability, but that social skills and emotional maturity are also essential for your child’s successful beginning of Kindergarten.

**Coming for the 2019-2020 school year: There is a new option offered to our 5-year old classes that includes one extended day built in to your child’s week. This class is specifically created and recommended for children who are planning to attend a full-day of Kindergarten the following year. It is designed to be an extension of the 5-year old curriculum and the day will include a lunch time (lunch not provided). Price is based on the 5-year old tuition payment in addition to the price for extended day.  Please navigate to our registration tab for more information.
